This dressing is absolutely amazing! So creamy, so garlicky! You’re going to want to put it on everything!
The recipe came about when I was attempting to create a Caesar salad dressing.
I have to admit, it’s been a long time since I’ve had an actual Caesar salad. So, I’m not sure I remember exactly what Caesar dressing tastes like.
I’m pretty sure this one doesn’t quite taste like it, but it is so good I had to share it. Rather than calling it a Caesar dressing, I’ve decided a more accurate name for it is Savory Garlic Dressing.
What’s in this salad dressing?

There are a lot of cashew based sauces out there, but I decided to switch things up and use slivered almonds this time. In addition to almonds, this garlicky dressing contains:
- A bit of nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor
- Lemon juice and Dijon mustard for tang
- Capers add a bit of brininess
- Garlic – lots of it!
- Vegan Worcestershire sauce for some savoriness
- Sugar
- Salt and Pepper
If you’re not as big a fan of garlic as my family is, feel free to reduce the amount. However, I think that’s what makes this dressing so good.
How to make this dressing
This Savory Garlic Dressing goes together in minutes and couldn’t be easier. Simply place all the ingredients in a high speed blender like a Vitamix, and blend until the dressing is completely smooth.
Storing
I store my dressing in a jar with an air tight lid. It will last in the refrigerator for about a week.
Ways to enjoy this salad dressing
- On salad greens with some oven baked croutons.
- Poured over steamed vegetables
- As a sauce for your grain and veggie bowls
- Spread on a sandwich
I asked my husband if there was anything more he thinks I should say about this dressing. His response, “It’s yummy!” We hope you think so too!

This is outstanding! Thank you so much. I just whipped it up for my salad, and OH BOY! I’m so glad I found your recipe.
Thanks for your wonderful review! I’m glad you like it as much as we do!
This is now my favourite dressing.
Yay! I’m so glad you like it!
I’ve made many variations of this and it’s mine and my use bands favourite! -some ppl just don’t get nutritional yeast, I love it ???? Thanks!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying it!
The salad dressing was just OK. I thought that the nutritional yeast made the texture a bit pasty and it was lacking seasoning. I think it needs some herbs to go with it and a lot more tame. I added more salt another tablespoon of lemon juice and a tablespoon of red wine vinegar and that definitely helped but it is not one I would use again.
Sorry you didn’t care for it.
I just made this using dill weed instead of capers and date paste instead of sugar. Excellent!
This looks very good. I will soak whole raw almonds and use those instead of the slivered almonds. Cashews could also be good.
I would probably cook the garlic first but it sounds good
I loved it and actually used more garlic. served it with fresh spinach and dried cranberries.
Great recipe! I make salads every day and this is a great healthy dressing to add to the mix!
Tasty, easy to make, this garlic dressing really does dress up a salad.
Thank you for your recipe. I was looking for something new to try. Unfortunately, this one didn’t work for me. The result was tasty, but I doubled the spices & flavorings (except salt) in the recipe and the flavor result was still mild. Also, I don’t own a high speed blender so I tried to make the recipe in my Cuisinart Food Processor and despite its ability to make almond butter on a regular basis, the dressing did not turn out smooth or creamy and was very grainy. Maybe I’ll try again when I get the vitamix I keep asking for at birthdays or Christmases…
I’m sorry this recipe didn’t work out for you. It really does require a high speed blender for a smooth result.
What could I use in place of Almonds due to a nut allergy? Thank you
You could try sunflower seeds. The flavor will be a little different, but I’ve heard of sunflower seeds being substituted for nuts in other recipes.
Very good! I made 1/2 a recipe & used 3 huge cloves of garlic. I love garlic & I could have used a little less. My advice would be to start with less & add more per taste. Also switched out the sugar for maple syrup & didn’t use salt. Really good!
So glad you liked it!
