This Vegan Golden Gravy is so quick and easy to make, and is amazingly delicious! A perfect gravy to pour over your mashed potatoes, stuffing, or veggie loaf!
Last month I shared my recipe for my wonderful Vegan Garlic Mashed Potatoes. While these potatoes are delicious enough to eat on their own, I know many of you would love a gravy for topping them. And what’s a holiday feast without gravy? Well, I have the perfect gravy recipe for your Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, or any time!
Traditional gravies are full of fat and meat drippings. Not this one! Vegans can eat wonderful gravy without meat products or fat and still have all the delicious flavor.
How to Make Vegan Golden Gravy
What’s in this gravy? Start with a good rich vegetable stock. I like to use Better Than Bouillon No Chicken Base, but this does have a very small amount of oil, so feel free to use your favorite vegetable broth. I’ve added some nutritional yeast for an umami taste, and added some herbs for a holiday flavor. Whole wheat pastry flour is used to thicken the gravy. If you are gluten free, substitute a gluten free flour.
Making this Vegan Golden Gravy couldn’t be easier. Just place all the ingredients into a medium sauce pan and whisk them together. Heat and stir the gravy over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil and is thickened. Then spoon it over everything! It’s so good, you’re going to be licking the spoon!

Easy Vegan Golden Gravy
- 3 cups vegetable broth
- 1/3 cup whole wheat pastry flour
- 2 tablespoons Nutritional yeast
- 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sage
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together all the ingredients.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil and is thickened.
